πΊπΈ Veteran Service Dog Registry β Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about registration, certificates, verification, and the Stop22ADay mission.
πΎ What is the Veteran Service Dog Registry (VSDR)?
The VSDR is a voluntary registry for U.S. veterans and their service dogs. It helps raise awareness, protect ADA rights, and connect supporters to the Stop22ADay mission β honoring the 22 veterans lost every day to suicide. It is not a government certification or legal requirement.
π How do I register my service dog?
You can register online for free using our registration form:
π Register Your Service Dog
Registration helps document your partnership and provides a printable certificate of acknowledgment.
π What is a Premium membership?
Premium membership is a voluntary way to support the Stop22ADay mission. There are no extra features or privileges β the registry itself is always free. Your $22 annual contribution simply helps sustain the platform and outreach efforts.

π What does the certificate include?
After registering, you can view or download your Service Dog Certificate from your member dashboard. It displays your dogβs name, registry ID, and acknowledgment that your partnership is recognized by the registry.
π How can someone verify a service dog?
You can use our public verification page:
π Verify a Service Dog
Visitors can confirm that a dog is registered with VSDR by entering its verification code. Only minimal information is shown β dog name, registry ID, and active status. No personal or medical details are ever displayed.
π Does my registration expire?
No. Your free registration remains valid indefinitely. Premium members renew annually if they wish to continue their financial support, but your registry entry stays active regardless.
π§Ύ Can I update my information or reprint my certificate?
Yes. Visit your My Service Dog dashboard to update details or download a new certificate at any time.
βοΈ What laws protect my rights as a handler?
Your rights come from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), not from registration. You can read the ADA guidelines and state-by-state laws here:
π ADA & State Laws
π What information is public?
Public verification only displays:
- Dog name
- Registry ID
- Registration status
We never publish your address, contact info, or any medical/disability information.
π Can I register more than one dog?
For privacy and data quality, we currently allow one active dog per user account. If you need to register a new service dog (e.g., a successor), please contact support for assistance.
